And then, a rude awakening.
I went to the dermatologist for the rare skin cleaning and I was surprised by the relatively short amount of time before my cosmetologist removed her gloves signalling the end of my session. "What? Are we done?" I asked. "Yes," she said. "You don't have too many comedones, ma'am. The roughness you feel is from unexfoliated dead skin."
I thought I felt the walls closing in on me. The absence of comedones did not just mean that I was no longer a mega oil producing adolescent. But dead skin cells clinging to my face like pitch to asphalt was also a sure sign that my skin was not automatically renewing itself. If I could deny it before, I could not do it anymore. I am no longer a spring chicken. I am 34.
The product is a straight forward water-based gel moisturizer that is hypo-allergenic and fragrance free. Its lightweight formula is absorbed easily by the skin although the softening effect is not immediate. In fact, I remember feeling rather disappointed with the product, initially, only to be surprised 30 minutes later that my face was baby smooth! I was also surprised to find that the product was able to keep my skin supple even six hours later while controlling shine (Disclaimer : I just learned that I now had normal to dry skin. The oil controlling ability of this product might be different if you actually have oily skin). This convinces me that this particular moisturizer is a good product to use under makeup. The downside? This moisturizer has no SPF, so you will need to wear a separate sunscreen, if you are so inclined.
Noteworthy, also, is that Celeteque Hydration Moisturizer is a basic moisturizer that contains no anti-aging, no exfoliating, and no skin firming compounds that I need for my skin age. Therefore, if you are looking for a more advanced product like I am, move on from the basic Celeteque line and look for products with anti-aging ingredients like hyaluronic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, coenzyme Q10, and alpha lipoic acid among other things.
This moisturizer, is best left for younger ducklings in search of entry level skin care that won't block their pores and won't break the bank. As for me, I won't be using this product for long. I will, however, keep it in my professional makeup kit as a moisturizer for my drier clients whose skin might need some priming before makeup application.
