Monggo sprouts are the most common you will find in the Philippines, but store bought can never beat what you can make at home both in flavor, freshness, and benefits. I mean, how can you beat something that you can harvest and eat while it is still alive? Know what I mean?
1. Fill a glass or sturdy plastic container no more than a quarter of the way full with mung bean. Wash the mung beans with water until the water runs clear, also making sure that you remove beans that float on the surface of the water. Then fill your container with enough water to cover the beans, cover with a piece of cloth and leave to soak overnight (about 8 hours). When you uncover your container, the beans will have quadrupled in size like so:
The same instructions apply to other beans, so go ahead and experiment. I'm going out to give lentils a shot.
